In the beginning, my idea was to write a book that included Lore about climate change. I had had the starts of a book for a long while, and believed that if I gave myself a reason to write it then I would finally complete it. The book originally didn’t include climate change as a focal point, and instead was about the physiological toll of upholding expectations in a way that included elements of fantasy. Ultimately I realized that adding such a big element such as climate change to a world that already was fledged out wouldn’t end with a result that I was proud of. I knew that I wanted to include climate change into my senior project still though. Once we got halfway through the year I decided I needed to switch gears.

I wanted to make a tangible product, that would impact the people who experienced it. I have wanted to create an interactive art exhibit for nearly as long as I have wanted to write a book. I feel that art is the purest form of human accomplishment, as it can speak to the hearts of every individual in many different ways. I wanted my art to cause people to escape from the modern world and into the one I create, so I decided to make the art fully surround the viewer. The idea is that the viewer will have to walk through a tunnel I create that becomes tighter and tighter, representing my own journey being restricted by climate anxiety. As many people these days suffer from climate anxiety, I felt the best way to show an outside eye the effects of it, would be to walk them through my journey with it. I want to narrate the story of my life as the viewer walks through, lighting up each piece of art as they near it. The point of it is to raise awareness for the way young people feel, whist also showing the hope I still feel even though I have seen every facet of the dire conditions.
